Spike Legged Strider

This lanky beast is one I made in 3DS Max a while ago. It would live in arid dry landscapes. It has Spear shaped feet that is also uses to attack its prey. The lower legs are equipped with a number of poison secreting quills.

The Strider attacks with its front legs, impaling its prey. As the spear-like legs pull out of the wound the poison tipped quills are snapped off inside. Then its just a matter of time until the prey is incapacitated. The poison then starts to liquefy the meat. With its suction cup-like mouth the monster feasts. They only need to eat once a week unless it’s a mother with nursing young. In that case the mother must eat at least twice a week to provide nourishment for her young. The red dangle on the Strider can expand to three times it’s size, when gorged with milk. With over one-thousand openings the young learn to use their mouths as they feed.

The Strider can reach speeds of up to 70 Kilometres per hour on flat terrain. The lower legs are almost solid bone and because they are so rigid they can be prone to breaking. Although a Strider can function perfectly well with only 3 legs…They are called Tripods by their jerk friends.

Very cool! Do you think it’d be okay if they referred to the liquefied meat as “Monster Mash”?
